Andy views teaching and learning as a dynamic, interactive process. As a teacher of private lessons he has built rapport with students and families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, and has created a trusting atmosphere through sensitivity to students' strengths, weaknesses, and personal learning styles. He develops curriculum that is appropriate to students' learning abilities and reflects their needs and interests, and he achieves positive results by breaking down large learning tasks into meaningful and manageable segments. With emphasis on tone production and technique, Andy incorporates ear training, music theory, improvisation, and analysis in order to build a broad musical foundation with each of his students.
